Interested in local heritage? We are looking for people who can tell the Slaughterhouse story to visitors. The role will include training and involve you helping with the research process, greeting visitors, guiding them around the exhibition, answering questions and serving in the cafe. An important part of the role is making visitors feel welcome and helping them to get the best visitor experience from the exhibitions and gallery space. Community Events and Festival Volunteers

Escape Arts participate in many local events and celebrations throughout the year, including Shakespeare Birthday Celebrations, Literary Festival, Arts Festival, Motor Festival and Stratford River Festival. This is the perfect role for an individual who wants to get involved, but cannot do so regularly. The role will include making things with families, interacting with the public about Escape & working with fellow Escape volunteers to ensure the best time is had by all! Heritage Champions

Escape is looking for local people who have a passion for local heritage and can help steer the project exhibitions and activities. The role will include attending steering group meetings, research and contributing to local consultation events to ensure the project reflects the interests and diversity of local people. The role will also involve going out into the community, meeting local people and recording their stories to form part of our ongoing oral history collection and quarterly exhibitions, as recorded on our digital timeline. This will be a new group meeting on Thursday or Friday afternoons. Work Experience Programme

Work Experience Programme

Escape Arts at the Old Slaughterhouse are excited to announce the arrival of our new Work Experience Programme! We have been developing exciting work experience and youth volunteer opportunities based on local arts and heritage events and activities. This project will develop innovative, creative and community impact work experience placements where young people can really make a different within their communities. It is aimed at young people looking for school work experience placements, undertaking Duke of Edinburgh, Arts Award or Extended Project Qualification. One to One Participant Support

One to One Participant Support

At the Old Slaughterhouse, we support adults with learning disabilities in a weekly arts & heritage based workshop on a Tuesday afternoon called Paper Moon. Paper Moon is famous at the Old Slaughterhouse for infectious laughter & good times! This role includes working with the participants to create their art work and being prepared to burst into song at any moment! Past projects include making their costumes for the Shakespeare’s Birthday Celebrations Parade and recently Make Do and Mend Christmas decorations.
